The Siri Speech team is looking for an exceptionally skilled and creative Automation Engineer, who is eager to help improve the Siri experience.
- Experience building and tuning large vocabulary speech recognition systems
- Ability to implement experiments using scripting languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, bash) and tools written in C/C++
- Experience working in acoustic modeling and language modeling
You will be part of a Linguistic team that’s responsible for a wide variety of speech-related development activities, including Siri’s data resources for many different languages, coordinating our speech research efforts with those of our localization team, identifying key language dependent research issues, recommending potential strategies, and conducting extensive investigation into the sources of speech recognition errors in various languages. You should be passionate about creating phenomenal products. Because you’ll be working closely with engineers from a number of other teams at Apple, you’re a team player who thrives in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
M.A. or PhD in Linguistics or related field
– Strong background in phonology – Fluency in 3 or more languages other than English – Experience working with standard speech recognition toolkits (such as HTK, Attila, Kaldi, SRILM, OpenFST or equivalent proprietary systems) is preferred – Experience working on ASR systems in multiple languages is preferred
